Explore your future as a leader within Wells Fargo Securities (WFS) during the 22 month Wells Fargo Securities Operations Leadership Program, available to both undergraduate students and Masters candidates.

You'll begin seven three-month rotations throughout the operations areas within Wells Fargo Securities Operations. Moving between groups will help you develop a broad understanding of the business, while enhancing your adaptability, project management, and communication skills.

The program begins with intensive training that will teach you the concepts, mechanics, and applications of market fundamentals as well as the interface between products and markets. Then you'll begin seven three-month rotations throughout the following operations areas:

  • Collateral management
  • Exception resolution
  • Equity operations
  • Derivative settlements
  • Commodities, credit, rates, and middle office
  • WFS settlement operations
  • WFS operations solutions
  • Project management
  • Futures and derivatives clearing
  • Prime services
  • Operations Control Group

Responsibilities

While in each group, you'll learn about and perform the functions of that team, which may include:

Client Support: Set up customer and broker accounts for all securities and derivatives clients

Reconciliations:

  • Resolve general ledger exceptions
  • Perform reconciliations for stock record, suspense, and cash breaks
  • Perform book and balance sheet records reconciliations across Wells Fargo Securities

Settlements: Provide trade support, settlement, profit and loss, syndicate, and corporate-action services to Wells Fargo Securities and Wells Fargo

Funding: Mitigate the inherent risk of Derivative and Repo transactions through the exchange of collateral and credit support management

Project Management:

  • Document business requirements
  • Evaluate and implement system enhancements
  • Drive process design and reengineering
  • Identify and design test cases and develop test plans
  • Conduct testing and analyze results

Middle Office:

  • Provide operational and analytical support across Rates, Commodities, and Equities business lines
  • Provide operational and analytic support to traders and marketers

Futures & Derivatives Clearing: Perform clearing, collateral and client services for listed futures, options, and cleared derivatives

Prime Services: Provide operational support to alternative asset managers

Risk & Controls: Ensure that regulatory guidelines are followed, and ensuring alignment with standard best practices

This program will also expose you to additional training like Bond and Options Math

Qualifications

The program is open to both undergraduate students and Masters candidates. All majors are welcome to apply.

Required qualifications
  • Enrolled in a bachelor's or masters program with a graduation date between December 2016 and May/June 2017
  • The ability to research, compile, and perform in-depth analysis on critical operational data, and provide summaries and recommendations based on that data
  • Strong troubleshooting, technical, and resolution skills
  • Exceptional reporting and analytical skills, and a general understanding of operations policies and procedures
  • Superb interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate ideas and strategies, both verbally and in writing
  • Proven team-building skills and success in a team-oriented environment
  • Proficiency in handling multiple projects and assignments while maintaining a high level of performance
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, independently and collaboratively in a team
Desired qualifications
  • Strong leadership skills demonstrated through involvement with school or community work
  • Preference will be given to candidates whose field of study is in business management, finance, economics, engineering, mathematics, or computer science
  • Desire to progress through multiple levels of leadership and succeed in the financial services industry
