What are your responsibilities at Wells Fargo?

I am a software engineer who helps to ensure our platform works as we advertise it will. Additionally, for the Foreign Exchange Technology team here at Wells Fargo, I am creating a monitoring system to ensure all trades within the platform are processed successfully. If something goes wrong, I need the system to alert the correct personnel to deal with the problem.

Why did you choose to work at Wells Fargo?

I chose to work at Wells Fargo because it is one of the top financial services providers in the nation. It has a great technology team that is constantly looking to improve. Additionally, when I interned here last summer, I fell in love with the culture. I can see myself here at Wells Fargo for years to come.

Why is Wells Fargo a good place to start your career?

Wells Fargo is a good place to start your career because of all the different development opportunities. There are numerous official programs within Wells Fargo, such as the Leadership Pipeline Program (LPP), Financial Analyst Program (FAP), Wealth Management and Investment (WIM) analysts, and others. Wells Fargo values its employees, and I have seen that throughout the company. For me, coming to Wells Fargo was less about getting a job and more about starting my career.

What do you think makes someone successful at Wells Fargo?

There are many things that make someone successful. Here at Wells Fargo, there is a priority on being a hard-worker and keeping the customer in mind. Keeping the customer in mind is crucial on any project because it has led Wells Fargo to become one of the top financial services providers in the nation.

What skills are crucial in your job?

My job consists of solving many different problems, from how to implement a system to how to deal with one change that affects the entire architecture. The most crucial skills to have are problem-solving and the tenacity to not give up when you don’t find the solution easily. Programming and technical skills complement the soft skills I mentioned above.

What do you love about your job?

I love the challenge of my job. I come in everyday with a different set of problems. This has really propelled me to get better at what I do. Along with that, I love working with new technology, and Wells Fargo has given me that opportunity.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

The most challenging part of my job is starting a project. After getting a project description, I have many different ways to go about starting the project. The challenge for me is taking that first step so that the project unfolds the way you want it to.

What is the best thing about living and working in your city?

The best part of living and working in Charlotte, N.C., is being so close to my family. My fiancé and her family are from the south Charlotte area, so it has been amazing to have such a great support system during my transition from college. Another thing I love about the city is all of the great restaurants and local breweries. There is never a time when I don’t have the option of trying a new spot.

What would you do if you weren't working at Wells Fargo?

I would love to work for NASA or another space exploration agency. The space exploration field is fascinating. I have always thought space is the one of the greatest mysteries, and I have been curious since I was a child.

What do you like to do when you aren't at work?

I love to cook. It may seem small, but I love the feeling of creating something that others enjoy. I also love to go hiking and explore new areas. My fiancé and I have only begun to scratch the surface of discovering all of what Charlotte has to offer.
