Why did you choose to work at Wells Fargo Securities (WFS)?

The opportunities at Wells Fargo Securities (WFS) are suited to my career interests. I enjoy finance, watching the fast-changing financial market, and having the ability to observe how different geopolitical events or companies’ financial decisions affect our lives. I also love technology because it is shaping the world in terms of how people consume information, and it is creating tangible new solutions for decision-making. I believe that WFS is an expanding platform that is positioned for both changing market conditions and technology needs.

Why is WFS a good place to start your career?

Wells Fargo Securities' business is growing. Most importantly, the team members here are really experienced in what they do. There is no other place like this where you can receive such cutting-edge professional training about both finance and technology. If you enjoy learning new things every single day, this is a great place to start.

What do you love about your job?

The people. It’s absolutely fascinating to work with some of the sharpest people in the business.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

The most challenging part so far is gathering useful information and producing actionable ideas for business strategy. A great deal of data comes in from different clients and service-providers. This information has to flow seamlessly to traders and risk managers. It’s a challenging yet exciting task to make sure that we are providing traders and risk managers the correct information to make their decisions.

What is the best thing about living and working in your city?

Charlotte, N.C., is a very vibrant city with many young professionals. If you live anywhere Uptown, it only takes 10 to 15 minutes to walk from home to the office. There are many restaurants, bars, music venues, and sports arenas close to the office. There also is a light rail line in the city that can take you to a new neighborhood, South Park, where you will find premium shops and high-end restaurants. In addition, Charlotte is one of the greenest cities in the U.S. There are parks and recreation centers everywhere. There are many outdoor activities, such as whitewater rafting, hiking, mountain biking, and my favorite, flying on airplanes. You can fly to any major metropolitan area on the East Coast in about two hours.

Describe your experience and what you learned as a WFS summer analyst

My summer internship at WFS consisted of one week of intense training on financial products, risk management, excel modeling, and financial statement formatting, as well as general information about the Sales and Trading business lines within Wells Fargo Securities. There were also social and networking events with all the new Sales and Trading summer analysts and senior management. After that, we were assigned to different desks and we each rotated through several different roles. At the end of internship, I gave a presentation to my team and managers.

Where do you see yourself professionally in the next three to five years?

I hope to build a career here at Wells Fargo Securities in the next three to five years. I would like to continue to grow my business knowledge and my network within the firm, so that I can take on more responsibility and contribute to the company’s growth.

What would you do if you weren't working at WFS?

I would work with a few college friends on a secret startup idea.

What do you like to do when you aren't at work?

I like reading, cooking, running, travelling, flying, or anything involved with learning a new skill and being active.
